Golfers win prizes at 2017 Invitational
Sixteen of the 36 foursomes participating in the 2017 Rancho Bernardo Inn Women’s Golf Club Invitational won prizes for their on-course expertise. Format for the May 10 tournament was four-person team, modified waltz, and 16 groups tallied a win in gross or net scoring across four flights. The winners are listed below the slideshow:
Flight No. 1: Sue Lyerly, Patty Crigler, Beckey Smiser and Sue Smith (first place, gross); Paula Mullins-Worster, Mayoma Pendergast, Sharon Nielsen and Gloria Green (second place, gross); Caroline Dixon, Faye Tong, Erin Rowland and Annie Governski (first place, net); Dorothea Sledge, Sonja Stevenson, Sonya Brown-Conner and Melanie Joy-Laws (second place, net).

Flight No. 4: Marianne Proctor, Karen Ritter, Kim Mills and Cindy Price (first place, gross); Sue Haskell, Sallie Hite, Vicki Wilson and Gayle Cohen (second place, gross); Donna Boyce, Terry Wade, Karen Stelman and Barbara Warden (first place, net); Arilla Saint-Laurent, Patsy Kraus, Marilyn O’Neill, Jo Lea Von Herzen (second place, net).
In addition, Chandra Chase scored a hole-in-one on the 80-yard, par-three No. 11, garnering a $100 cash prize donated by local Realtor Linda Freemott. Other individual winners included Tessa Hurley (closest to the pin on No. 2); Karen White (closest to the pin on No. 4); Lynette Netherland (closest to the pin on No. 13); Melanie Joy-Laws (longest drive on No. 12); and Karen Stelman (straightest drive on No. 8).

In addition, JC Golf donated several rounds of golf as prizes, including one round of golf for four at each of its eight courses: Temecula Creek Inn, Encinitas Ranch, Rancho Bernardo Inn, Twin Oaks, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Oaks North, Welk Resorts and Reidy Creek. The Country Club of Rancho Bernardo also donated a round of golf for four. Rancho Bernardo Inn donated a Stay & Play (or Spa) for two, as well as dinner for two at The Veranda or Avant. Golf instructors Lori Brock and Gary Cliplef each contributed a free lesson, and Stadium Golf contributed a voucher for use at its facility.
