Two ways to qualify to join RBIWGC

Active membership in the Rancho Bernardo Inn Women’s Golf Club is open to amateur women golfers, minimum age 18, who agree to abide by and support the bylaws and general policies of the Club. To qualify for membership in the RBI Women’s Golf Club, prospective members must complete one of the following two procedures. To download the 2018 application form, please click on the link below.

2018 RBIWGC application

For players with an established handicap:

  • Fill out a membership application and submit it to the Membership Chair.
  • Provide a valid USGA handicap and GHIN (Golf Handicap and Information Network) number, or other generally accepted verification of handicap. Maximum allowable handicap for new members at the RB Inn course is 38 (equals a 36.5 USGA index).
  • Play one round of golf at RBI with a RBIWGC Board member or committee chair. The Membership Chair will then present the prospective member’s name to the Board for approval. Once approved, membership dues will be collected, and the Handicap Chair will submit the name of the new member to the Southern California Golf Association

For players without an established handicap:

  • Fill out a membership application and submit it to the Membership Chair.
  • Play a minimum of five (5) games at the RBI course on Ladies Day with current Club members. At least one of the games will be played with a Board member or committee chair. Three months is the maximum qualifying period.
  • To qualify for membership, the prospective member will be expected to achieve an average score of 109 or less for five games played. If more than five games are needed to achieve the 109 scoring average, only the five lowest scores necessary to meet the 109 scoring average will be used to obtain a USGA handicap and a GHIN (Golf Handicap and Information Network) number. All scorecards must be dated, attested and signed by two Club playing partners, marked “HQ” for Handicap Qualifier, and given to the Handicap Chair.
  • After the prospective member completes five games with an average score of 109 or less, the Membership Chair will present the prospective member’s name to the Board for approval. Once approved, membership dues will be collected, and the Handicap Chair will submit the name of the new member to the Southern California Golf Association.

If the scoring requirements are not achieved within three months, the prospective member may try again, after a three-month hiatus, on a RBIWGC play day. She is encouraged to continue practicing to improve and try to qualify again.

Prospective members who are qualifying for membership in the RBIWGC are not eligible for Sweeps, Special Tournaments or prizes until they have established a valid USGA handicap and have been accepted for membership. Once a player has received her GHIN number, she should post her golf scores in the Pro Shop or on the GHIN website. Posting should be completed within 24 hours of completion of the round.
