Tournament launched in Club’s founding year
The Rancho Bernardo Inn Women’s Golf Club President’s Cup Championship is one of two major tournaments sponsored by the Club each year (the other is the Club Championship). The President’s Cup is a two-day tournament, generally scheduled in the fall. Format is stroke play, net score. Poor course conditions forced the cancellation of the tournament in 2021 and 2022.
The first President’s Cup Championship was scheduled during the Club’s founding year, in spring 1964. The tournament was suspended from 1999 to 2003 and replaced by a Better Ball of Partners event. The President’s Cup resumed in November 2004. Only four players (Wilma Weiser, Maxine Lewis, Sheila Waxman and Terry Malloy) have won the tournament more than once.
